Why Do We Need Salvation?

The bible teaches that all of us have sinned, that not one of us is good enough to get into heaven.  God’s standard is perfection.

Matthew 5:48  Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Romans 3:23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

The bible teaches that no one can earn or work their way into salvation.  No matter how good of a person you have been by helping others, feeding the poor, giving all your time and money to the needy.  Although those are all good things, they just are not good enough.  At some point in our lives, we have all sinned.

1 John 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

God knows that we are not perfect and that we cannot save ourselves.  Our God provides a way to salvation as a free gift.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8,9  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; lest anyone should boast.

The bible teaches that Jesus Christ is God, the second person of the Trinity.  The Trinity Christians believe in is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  (yes, I know the word Trinity is not found in the bible=I will cover that on a different page)  Because God loves us He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to pay the price for our sins.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:16,17  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Isaiah 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray;  We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Jesus went to prepare a place in heaven for us who believe in Him.

John 14:2  In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.

Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father.

John 14:6  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Jesus paid for our sins with His blood.

John 19:30  So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”  And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

To some things up.  We know that we are all sinners, that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.  We know that Jesus paid the price of our sins.

If you are ready to change your life and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in your heart; please pray and say the following out loud.

Lord Jesus I know I’m a sinner, I believe You are the Son of God and that You died for my sins.  I turn away from my sins and open the door to my heart and my life to You.  I receive You as my personal Lord and Savoir.  Thank you for saving me right now.  In Jesus name I pray Amen.
